For gear manufacturers, forging shops and suppliers of aerospace components, the alloy name is only part of the order. The melt route, incoming condition, approved source and certification requirements need to be considered together.

Ohio Bar & Metal reviews production quantities, truckloads and scheduled releases against those requirements. Send the material callout and dimensions, along with total demand and the first delivery needed.

Exact material: AMS or customer specification, revision, grade and required melt practice.
Usable production stock: Diameter, lengths, supply condition, tolerances and any cutting or finishing required.
Purchasing requirements: Approved-source restrictions, country-of-origin requirements, testing, traceability and certification.

“Defense grade” is not a single material standard. The drawing and purchase documents determine what can be supplied; availability and approvals are confirmed for the specific order.

Continuity: Any requirements to maintain a specific mill, heat lot or approved processing source across releases.
Acceptance: Required tests, certification, marking and document review before shipment.
