4142 Round Bar: Material Profile

4142 provides a slightly different carbon range than 4140 and should be ordered to the exact specification shown on the drawing or purchase requirement.

It may be supplied annealed, normalized, cold-finished, or quenched and tempered depending on downstream processing.

Purchase to the controlling ASTM, SAE, AMS, or customer specification. Section size, supply condition, mechanical properties, surface limits, testing, and heat/lot traceability can change the acceptable material and processing route.
