Cold drawing pulls prepared bar through a die below the steel’s recrystallization temperature, reducing the section and controlling its final shape.
Die reduction and cold work can increase yield and tensile strength while producing closer dimensional control than hot-rolled bar. Draft, straightness, residual stress, and final property requirements must be considered together.
